JAMRUD, Pakistan, Nov. 1 (UPI) -- Seven Taliban members and two civilians were reported killed Sunday in clashes in Waziristan and Khyber near the Afghan border, authorities said.
The Taliban members were killed in the village of Kaniguram in the second week of fighting in the semi-autonomous tribal region, Dawn reported.
In the Khyber agency, two civilians died when a mortar shell hit the home of the agency's councilor in Jamrud. The councilor escaped unharmed, Dawn reported.
A separate blast Sunday injured four people at an 18-room girls' high school in the Saipah area of Khyber, authorities said.
The Taliban have destroyed hundreds of Pakistani schools in recent years, most of them girls' schools in the Swat Valley.
