Published By United Press International
SALAVAT, Russia, Jan. 14 (UPI) -- A man who fired two shots at a kindergarten from his balcony was killed by police in Russia Monday, officials said. A nurse was injured by flying glass.

Police said the man fired twice with a shotgun at the nearby school in Salavat in the republic of Bashkiria and was shot by officers who went to arrest him.

The nurse was the only person injured, investigators said.

Police officers said they stormed the man's apartment after he refused to surrender and that he fired at them before officers killed him.
